About Us

In 2008, the first National Run for the Fallen began as a cross-country run in honor and remembrance of all fallen service members killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The team ran in a relay style, spanning over 4,000 miles from California to Arlington National Cemetery. Runners marked each mile of their cross-country journey with an American flag and personalized sign card in honor of every fallen service member.

On the final day of the 2008 memorial run, over 9000 runners in nine countries and forty-three states collectively ran almost 36,000 miles to raise awareness about the lives of those service members who fought, to keep their memories alive, to support organizations that help wounded veterans and the families of those killed (Wounded Warrior Project, Yellow Ribbon Fund, Gold Star Family Support Center, and the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund) and to aid in the healing process for those Americans whose lives have been affected by the war.

Houston Run for the Fallen was started in honor of Marine Scout Sniper Cpl. John R. Stalvey. Cpl. Stalvey was killed in action October 3, 2005 by an IED while conducting combat operations near Karbala, Iraq.

August 22, 2009 was the first annual Houston Run for the Fallen and was a great success. Over 600 people came out to honor those who have fought and fallen under the American flag. Among those who came out were Congressman Kevin Brady, several Gold Star Moms including Crystal Merillat and Patriot Guard Riders of Texas.

We are looking forward to the second Houston Run for the Fallen and honoring those who have given all.
